JEFF CHAMBERS' CYCLE RIDES

<Back to Home Page>

This page relates my 2005 adventure into the world of journalism - a weekly column in the Barrow Evening Mail describing a local cycle ride! It was good fun, and tried to show something of the area as well the ride. It was five years ago, but I think the articles still stand up (although a lot of the links to other websites will probably be broken by now).

Enjoy!

    This page provides links into a number of pages, each of which describes a cycle ride somewhere around South Cumbria. There will be a bit of a bias towards the south-west of the county, as your author Jeff Chambers lives near Ulverston.

    Each of the rides will have been published in the (Barrow) North-West Evening Mail, in its Saturday 'Weekend' section. The purpose of these pages is to provide a reference to go back to, maybe on a day when it isn't pouring down, and also now and then to add more information than the space in the column in the paper would allow. There might be some useful links to other sites in some cases, where I can find them.

    Update for the end of October 2005 - the last Evening Mail column appeared on the 29th October 2005, that's 38 in all this year. It's been great fun!
